Spotify Promotion Tools: Pitching, Links & Measurement
There is no single tool that covers every part of Spotify promotion. Separate getting a release delivered, pitching it, directing listeners to it and understanding the response. This makes both your budget and your expectations easier to manage.
Choose the missing step
| Your task | Starting point | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Pitch Spotify editors | Spotify for Artists | Selection is not guaranteed |
| Approach independent curators | SubmitHub or Groover | Paid consideration is not paid placement |
| Give listeners a destination | Feature.fm or Hypeddit | A visit is not a completed listen |
| Research campaign activity | Chartmetric and your artist dashboard | A trend is not proof of causation |
Start with the official editorial route
Spotify for Artists accepts eligible upcoming, unreleased music for editorial consideration. Its guidance explains access, timing and one-song-at-a-time restrictions. Aim to prepare early; Spotify says pitching at least seven days before release also supports inclusion in followers’ Release Radar. Editorial selection is not guaranteed.

Make sure the distributor has delivered the release and the right artist profile is attached. If the song is already released, shift your plan toward audience development and other relevant channels rather than trying to recreate an expired pre-release window.
Keep independent submissions separate
Independent playlist owners are not Spotify’s editorial team. Inspect the curator’s recent selections and audience context before paying for consideration. An intimate acoustic track and a high-energy workout playlist may share a broad genre label but serve very different listening situations.
Use the playlist platform guide to compare submission models. Keep a single log so you do not send the same song through multiple channels to the same person.
Send traffic somewhere useful
Choose a direct Spotify link when that is clearly what the listener wants, or a multi-service smart link when the audience uses several services. Test the path from the actual social app to the destination. Broken links and unnecessary steps can waste a campaign before the music is heard.
Give each promotional channel a recognizable tracking label. Interpret outbound clicks as an intermediate action, not an exact count of new listeners.
Check quality, not just volume
Look at the source, timing and context of any change. A sudden spike is a reason to investigate, not automatic proof of success or wrongdoing. Spotify warns against artificial streams and paid guaranteed playlist placement. Do not buy a promised stream total.

Questions to settle before spending
Can I promote a Spotify release for free?
Yes. Start with the official artist tools, existing audience, relevant organic outreach and a functioning listening link. Your time and assets still have a cost.
Should I use all these tools together?
Only if each fills a different gap. One well-run channel is easier to learn from than several overlapping purchases with no measurement plan.
