Editorial Methodology: How Music PR Tools Evaluates Products

Music PR Tools helps readers choose a workflow before choosing a product. This page explains what our coverage is based on, what we have not tested and how to challenge a detail that appears incorrect.

Start with the job, not a universal winner

We compare products by the work they support: delivery, submissions, outreach, listening destinations or research. Tools in different categories may complement one another. A distributor is not a replacement for a publicity workflow, and an analytics dashboard is not a submission service.

A recommendation should explain who it suits and what would make another choice better. Directory order is a navigation choice, not a measured performance ranking.

Separate facts, analysis and evidence

  • Provider facts: features and terms attributed to linked official sources.
  • Editorial analysis: our explanation of workflow fit, trade-offs and questions to ask.
  • Hands-on evidence: only labeled as such when an actual test, scope and result can be documented.

The current product profiles are documentation-based. We have not run controlled campaigns across all listed services. We do not invent star ratings, testimonials, acceptance rates or personal testing experiences.

Compare prices accurately

We identify currency, billing period and relevant limits where verified. An annual price displayed as a monthly equivalent is not a monthly subscription payment. Optional offers, ad spend and release extras should not be hidden behind the base price.

A checked date applies to the sources named on that page; it does not certify every possible account, location or plan. Provider checkout and current terms take precedence.

Ownership and commercial relationships

The team operating this publication also operates Virtual Publicist. That relationship is disclosed on our About page and pages specifically evaluating VP. We do not describe those pages as independent third-party reviews.

Other products can be a better fit for particular needs. A listing or logo does not imply endorsement by the listed company. Any paid placement or affiliate arrangement, if introduced, should be identified where it affects the reader’s decision.

Corrections and updates

Send the page URL, disputed statement and a supporting official source through our corrections route. We assess the specific claim rather than removing criticism simply because a vendor dislikes a comparison.

Substantive updates should change the page’s updated date. Cosmetic edits do not imply a new product test. Useful additions include clearer limits and corrected pricing, not just more words.
